Before operating the liftgate, make certain that the area is clear of obstacles and no other personnel is around. It is also important that the operator is fully trained and know the capabilities and the limitations of the liftgate.  The maximum rated capacity of the liftgate should not exceed.

You should always stand to one side of the platform when operating the liftgate from ground level.  Make sure parts of your body like fingers, arms, hands, legs and feet are clear of moving liftgate.  For no reason, you should not dismount from moving equipment.  If there are slippery surfaces you may carefully dismount from lift gate platform.  Never jump off the liftgate.

In case of emergency, you have to release the control switch to stop liftgate from operating. Make sure that the liftgate is in a stowed position when not in use. If the lift gate needs maintenance, then a qualified person should perform the task using only proper tools.
