Trucks need skilled and experienced truck drivers. It is hard to drive trucks specially when loaded with heavy equipments and other cargoes. He should know the necessary safety measures when driving trucks. It is important for the driver to know how much load his truck carries so that he will be adapted with the trucks movements.

For those who want to be a truck driver it is necessary to secure driver’s license in the State they live and a clean driving record. Their regular driver’s license is good enough to drive light trucks and vans. But drivers for tractor-trailers and bigger straight trucks must acquire a commercial driver’s license (CDL) same with the drivers carrying at lease 26,000 pounds of loads. CDL should also be obtained by all truck drivers operating trucks that transport dangerous and harmful materials not considering the size of the truck.

To get hold of a commercial driver’s license, one should pass a written examination on rules and regulations. They should also show that they can manoeuvre a commercial truck with ease and safety. Commercial drivers may not be issued a license if found out he has record of violations and for those who have license that had been revoked and suspended in other State.

Truck drivers are required to be in good health, at least 21 years old. He should not be convicted of any criminal act relating the use of motor vehicle; hit-and-run driving that resulted to death or injury, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Truck drivers that will those qualifications can be an asset to any company.
